Our journey to create Céilí Wínéry started back in 2002 when we moved to Washington’s Wine Country and Doug enrolled at WSU to pursue and obtain his degree in viticulture and enology, all the while working in the wine industry, earning his purple hands (and tired back). We spent 10 years designing and planning, asking and re-asking questions, begging, borrowing and buying equipment and putting all the various pieces together. When the dust + must finally settled, Céilí Wínéry was born!
Our winery is all about celebration! We believe that any gathering of family and friends is cause for celebration (or at least a good reason to have a drink or two). We pay homage to our Scottish and Irish roots by bringing together some of our favorite things: wine, family and friends (notice the wine always comes first!). We believe in celebrating all that life brings – the good, the bad and the face-for-radio moments. Weddings…celebrate! New babies...celebrate! New home, new job, graduations, baptisms…celebrate, celebrate…well, you get the idea. Even death should be embraced, as friends and family gather together to share stories, laugh, cry and remember a life well-lived.
By using our hands and our hearts (but not our feet, much to the relief of many) to craft something that others will enjoy during the milestones of their lives, we feel as though we are in some small way a part of all those lives and moments. It connects us in a way we never realized until we started sharing our first bottles with those around us. So we raise a glass to all of you who have joined us in this journey. Thank you for being a part of our lives and for letting us be a part of yours…
Maireann croí éadrom i bhfad!
(A light heart lives longest!)
Our 2016 Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon soaked in lots of sunshine high atop the bluffs overlooking the Columbia river, until it was hand harvested and lovingly fermented. It then lounged around on French Oak just long enough to grab up some soft tannins giving it solid structure without losing its supple fruit finish. Ripe berry flavors combine with crisp cranberry and a hint of smoke play nicely on the pallet. We think it pairs well with most things, especially food, but we don’t like to limit experiences here. If you would like to pair it with a lazy Sunday afternoon or a beautiful sunset somewhere with a special someone, who are we to discourage you? Pair away!
Please welcome our 2016 Columbia Valley Riesling to the Ceili Winery family! After basking in the abundant Columbia Valley sunshine and building up loads of juicy melon, ripe pear, and crisp, tart apple flavors, these plump little grapes were gently squeezed and fermented slowly to give all those great flavors a chance to meld together into this golden colored, off dry, floral beauty. It probably wouldn’t be a bad idea to have a bottle or three ready in your fridge to add a bit of sunshine to your day any time of year!
The Craic (pronounced crack) is a term used in Ireland, Scotland and Northern England that has many different meanings: news, gossip, entertainment, fun and enjoyable conversation. So that is what you will find here from time to time. Postings about upcoming events, random occurrences, new release…if its news…it will be posted here!
If for any reason you ever feel the need to contact us, please feel free to do so. We enjoy hearing from you when you are happy with us, and we welcome the opportunity to do better if you are ever unhappy with us (although we hope that never happens). Reach out to us in whatever way works best for you from the options below.
Talk to you soon...
